Arcade cabinet

Pull every line free. Read before you tap.

What it is

A board packed with bent lines, each with an arrowhead at one end. Tap a line and it slides out the way its arrow points, the body following the head round every bend — but only if nothing stands between the head and the edge of the board. If something does, the line runs into it, springs back and costs one of your three hearts. Clear the board and a bigger, more tangled one is dealt; every fifth board is a smaller breather, some of them in a shape.

How it scores

Ten points a line, plus five for every step of a chain — pulls less than a second and a half apart — up to ten steps. A cleared board pays 100 plus 50 for each heart still held, and a board cleared without a mistake gives a lost heart back. It pays a twentieth of a coin a point, the rate of the other endless cabinets.

The cabinet pays 0.05 coins per point of score, before the daily cap described on the arcade page.

How to approach it

Read the head, not the tangle. Only the straight run from the arrow to the edge matters, so trace that and ignore the body. Every board can be cleared in any order of free lines — there is no wrong free pull — so the only way to lose is to guess.

That is the 4th-highest of the 5 rates in use, shared with 3 other cabinets. The rates are not arbitrary: a cabinet with a natural ceiling pays more per point than one you can play forever, because the second kind can be farmed by playing longer and the first can only be farmed by playing better.

The tempo is a design parameter rather than decoration. A cabinet is allowed its own BPM and nothing else about its music, because tempo is the one musical thing a game has an opinion about — a game played in bursts wants a different pulse from one played in a held breath. At 120 this is in the middle of the range.

Payouts are computed on the server, not in your browser — a balance the page holds is a balance a player can edit. The first 500 coins a day come at full rate and everything after that at a fifth.
