Lantern Row

Tutorial course

A lit street with one turn in it. The route is visible from the start.

What it is

Lantern Row is a lit street with exactly one turn in it. It is built so the whole route is visible from the start, which is the property that makes it a tutorial course rather than an easy one — you are never learning the map and the jump at the same time.

The route

Out along the lit street, one turn, and up. Sixteen jumps, none wider than 3.5 cells, and no drops anywhere on the route: it only ever goes up, 8 cells in total. The lanterns are lighting rather than decoration — the course is legible at night because they are there.

How to approach it

Take the turn wide. There is room for it, and cutting the corner is the only real way to fall off this course.

What it teaches: Turning while running, with no penalty for doing it badly.

How it compares to the rest of the ladder

Ranked against all 23 courses on the same measurements, this one holds one place:

  • the fewest jumps of any course — 16 jumps

MoveWASDArrow keys work too.

Sprint / lock onShiftA latch, not a hold: tap once to arm sprint and a camera lock-on together, tap again to release both. Neither carries over into the next world you open.

Sprint is a latch rather than a hold — tap it once and it stays on. Every control, keyboard and touch, including respawn, restart and the camera keys, and all of them rebindable.

Other Tutorial courses

  • Neon Run — A forgiving obstacle course. Stones, a walkway, floating islands.
  • Harbour Steps — A causeway out, a climb, and a long shelf home. Nothing to fall off.
  • Meadow Rise — A long climb to a summit, with two staircases to rest on.
