Spiral Yard

Easy course

Two laps of a square helix. A quarter of the jumps are corners.

What it is

Spiral Yard is two laps of a square helix — 36 jumps, a quarter of them corners, inside a footprint only 43 by 28 cells. It gains 19 cells and carries eight checkpoints, the most of any course before the Obby tier, because a spiral is a course you fall off repeatedly while learning it.

The route

Up one face, turn, up the next. The corners are the course: a straight section on a helix is three or four jumps at most, so you are never far from having to change direction. The widest gap is 3.5 cells and the route never drops, which is what keeps this in the Easy tier despite the turn count.

How to approach it

Land facing where you are going next, not where you came from. On a helix the corner is decided on the pad before it, not in the air.

What it teaches: Turning under a clock, with the safety net of a short fall.

How it compares to the rest of the ladder

Ranked against all 23 courses on the same measurements, this one holds one place:

  • the most checkpoints of any course — 8 checkpoints

Outright places only — ties are not claimed.

Controls

What you need to start

MoveWASDArrow keys work too.
JumpSpace
Sprint / lock onShiftA latch, not a hold: tap once to arm sprint and a camera lock-on together, tap again to release both. Neither carries over into the next world you open.

Sprint is a latch rather than a hold — tap it once and it stays on. Every control, keyboard and touch, including respawn, restart and the camera keys, and all of them rebindable.

Other Easy courses

  • Beacon Climb — Four switchback flights to a lit tower. One jump, learned properly.
  • Copper Bridges — Long spans between landings, and two descents that open up to three.
  • Sky Orchard — A weave with no straight section in it, through unreachable trees.
